Bowwell Lodge

Description

This charming and tastefully decorated holiday home offers two comfortable bedrooms, a living area with dining space, 2 bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen with highchair available, outside seating and parking.

We have gone out of our way to think of everything you will require to enjoy your stay in the picturesque village of Norham.

The village of Norham really is quite special in that it still offers everything you need yet is a 10min drive from Berwick Upon Tweed or 30min from Kelso. Norham has an award winning butcher, a baker (open only in the morning), a convenience store stocking all the daily essentials and also 2 local pubs- The Mason's Arms is certainly worth a visit. These are all just a few minutes walk from the property.

The River Tweed weaves round the edge of the village and offers lovely walks and views, whilst the Castle sits at the foot of the village and is steeped in history.

It is also worth noting that on a Thursday night the local fish and chip van comes to the village- a great option for supper, you will see how popular it is as you join the que!
With all this on the doorstep what more could you want when escaping busy every day life for a few days.

Ideally a car would be recommended so you can explore further afield should you wish to do so, plus the property offers parking for one car. While the property has it's own courtyard area to park in, access to the pend is shared through an open archway and we therefore request guests not to block it off. If you do come without a car there is the mainline train station in Berwick Upon Tweed and there is a local bus that goes through the village taking you to the other local towns.

Notes: There are stairs in the property and we will accept one well behaved dog, but please do let us know if you intend to bring a fury friend and there will be an additional fee of £20 which we will ask you to leave in the property. While the property has it's own courtyard area to park in, access to the pend is shared through an open archway and we therefore request guests not to block it off.

Very clean and fresh and Sonia was very thoughtful. It was our daughters 10th Birthday and we found a card, bottle of pink lemonade and some swiss rolls on the table when we arrived. Nice touch. The lodge was fine although a little smaller than we expected, would be tight with 4 adults, so us and the two kids was fine. Everything worked ok. Poor phone signal Nice little village with nice pub and food. Great fish and chips from a van every Thursday night ! Good location for exploring Berwick and surrounding area. Thanks Sonia

What a beautiful property Bow Well Lodge is! We arrived to an immaculately cleaned and stylish house that had everything we needed! Great location to explore Northumberland and just a one hour drive to Edinburgh. We ate in The Mason’s Arms three times and the staff are wonderfully friendly and the food is delicious! We spent most days on Cocklawburn Beach which is a short drive away and also had a wander around Berwick. We would highly recommend Bow Well Lodge and will definitely be booking again. Thank you!

We recently stayed at Bowwell Lodge, Norham, in Northumberland. The property was spotlessly clean, had all the comforts and amenities which you would need and more, whilst also being beautifully presented. There were extra 'welcome gifts' to ensure guests were safe with regards to Covid-19, such as hand gel and tissues. We met the owner and he was lovely and friendly. The service which we received from Sonia, at Beautiful Holiday Homes was second to none. She was exceptionally helpful and perfectly attentive. I shall certainly be using their services again and will be recommending them to all our family and friends.

A fabulous country cottage fully equipped for our 4 night break in a lovely friendly village . Everyone was so friendly and made us very welcome. Spent most evenings in the Masons Arms pub where the food was delicious and staff were amazing. All in all a great place to stay to visit lots of places almost on the doorstep. We will certainly be returning in the future.

Just had a very enjoyable week in the Lodge. Very pleasant accommodation located in a quiet lane in the small village of Norham. The Lodge is good for up to 4 people, is nicely furnished, has good modern bathrooms and a kitchen with modern white goods etc. Wi fi is good. Easy access to the property via the “lock box”. Norham has a good local pub only a 10 minute stroll away and the walks along the river Tweed are most enjoyable. Around a 10 minute drive to the A1 at Berwick so a good location for exploring North Northumberland and the Borders. Weather was great and only added to the enjoyment.

We spent a delightful two weeks in Bow Well Lodge and Norham. The lodge was cozy and very comfortable, with everything that we wanted for our stay. It was stylish, modern and well equipped, but was rustic on the outside in keeping with the village. It was exceptionally clean and well provisioned with extra towels and bed linens for our stay. Norham is a small quiet village with friendly folks who care about it as can be seen by the appearance and the many flowers. It is right on the River Tweed with great walking trails in both directions. The Masons Arms is not to be missed with great pub food and friendly patrons. We joined in a long debate about the differences between rutabagas and turnips that wasn't resolved when we had to leave. We were very pleased with our stay and were sad to leave.

We spent a really special six days staying at Bow Well Lodge. The house is beautifully set up with a lovely airy and bright living space and the bonus of a south facing decked area. It is equipped with everything you need and the fixtures and fittings are of a high quality. Great to have an en suite and separate shower room. We appreciated having off-road, safe parking so close to the house. The village has small shops and a pub, beautiful riverside walks and the friendliest locals we have ever come across. We would highly recommend this property for a peaceful break in stunning countryside.

The cottage was just lovely, clean, spacious, exactly as described and we had a great time... the village is really quiet, with a lovely butchers and nice pub... easy to get to from the A1... would recommend...

Lovely stay at Bowwell Lodge in Norham. The cottage was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented. Lots of local information was provided in advance of our stay and the area is a really lovely place to spend the weekend.
