Description

Just a stones throw from the city centre of Wick, this Northerly cottage sits beautifully off the A99, making it the perfect destination for those taking on the stunning NC500 route.
Drumdry has recently completed a HUGE renovation and this historic little cottage has bags to offer family and friends. Sitting adjoined to an old steading building, we love the history that this property holds. It found it's name 'Drumdry' from when local patrons would pop to the bar and receive their drinks through a still visible alcove. When the drum was empty, it was 'Drumdry'!

The cottage has brand new carpets throughout and guests will instantly notice the attention to detail upon arrival. There are two bedrooms, one with twin single beds and the other with a large King, facing South over the flat landscape of the North. Both bedrooms have a TV.
The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and the owners of this property ensure their guest's will want for nothing! The soft furnishings in the home are beautifully handmade by the owner and there are personal touches throughout.
Nespresso machine, Good WIFI and Smart TV's are all available in this home. The garden is secure and there is a washing line outside (trust us when we say your laundry will dry faster on the line than it will in a tumble dryer!). One well behaved dog is welcome on request and with prior agreement.

For those Summer nights, enjoy the newly landscaped garden and pop on the coal BBQ. Sit outside and take in the 360 degree views.

No bath, but a lovely large walk in shower, big enough to sleep in. The property is child and family friendly and we have both a travel cot with linen and high chair available should you need it- one less thing to pack!
We can't wait to begin welcoming guests to this little gem!

Location

The city centre of wick is 5 minutes drive away. We are very close to the Castle of Mey and both John O' Groats and Duncansby stacks are all within a 30 minute drive. The East coast has some breathtaking views and a huge amount to offer, including some of Scotland's oldest harbours and ferries to the Northern Isles!

The bungalow was lovely and cosy. I like to cook and the kitchen is fantastic, with all utensils required. Everything had been thought of and taken care of from dish washer tablets to the welcome hamper. Beautifully furnished and the shower is a power house! Host was very accommodating, dropped in to say hello and take the bins out (and dropped off a forgotten item when we had checked out which was very kind).

Fantastic stay, we absolutely loved the cottage! Beautiful and cozy, very spacious and modern bathroom with a great shower. Kitchen and living room are beautifully furnished, really lovely feel to it. Great to have a Nespresso machine with a milk foamer, really appreciated that detail. We would definitely book again, can highly recommend this place, really clean and inviting.

Beautifully designed house close to John o Groats and the NC500 but also lovely local places to explore like Whaligoe Steps and Castle Sinclair Girnigoe. Duncansby Stacks is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Even got to see a glimpse of the northern lights! The only neighbours were very sweet ewes and lambs. We loved the little basket of goodies on arrival, delicious and made the house extra welcoming. Extremely well-equipped kitchen though it took a while to hunt down the hidden spatula draw. You could definitely get to this cottage without having a car and then stay home and enjoy the house, it's really lovely, but to make the most of this place and the surroundings, a fair amount of driving is needed (but that is quite unavoidable of course going on holiday to somewhere so remote).

The house was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. It also accepted dogs. The garden had a lovely spot to sit out which was private and sheltered. There was also a welcome pack which was really nice. The owner obviously cares about her visitors and has paid a lot of attention to details.

Loved our stay at Drumdry Cottage. Lots of lovely little extras, like a welcome hamper, milk in the fridge, fruit in the fruit bowl and a coffee machine. Well equipped kitchen. Very clean and lovely interior. Our host was super helpful, going out of her way to provide information about local events and quick to respond but not at all intrusive, our privacy was very respected. Would highly recommend this beautiful cottage.

Fantastic cottage which really felt like a “home from home". Having been recently renovated, every room in the cottage was tastefully decorated. The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise. The cottage is also in a great location. Less than 2 miles from Wick town centre but very much out in the countryside surrounded by fields full of lambs. There is a pavement that runs all the way from the cottage into Wick so if you fancy leaving the car and walking then it’s safe to do so.

We had a lovely stay in the amazing Drumdry cottage, which had everything you might need. We greatly appreciated the generous welcome hamper. The cottage is in a great location for exploring the surrounding area. The cottage was beautifully decorated, with lovely views of the neighbouring sheep. We will definitely be back to stay in the future and will be recommending to family and friends.

Everything!! It was totally on point and very well thought out, nothing was missed at all. Very well placed property with it being just far enough out of town, but well within reach of everywhere I wanted to get to. Exceptionally clean, cosy and comfortable with everything I could possibly want and more. Despite being on the main road, very little of the passing traffic could be heard. Owner was friendly, approachable and easy to contact. Would highly recommend this beautiful little place. (It was great fun watching the lambs running around causing havoc in the fields next to the cottage)

“ Drumdry was fantastic value for money and an amazing find! We were blown away at how beautiful it is inside, and the attention the detail is second to none. We felt totally at home in this luxurious and comfortable cottage. Perfect stop for our NC 500 journey, we stayed here for 3 nights and was a perfect base to explore the North and East coast. Fiona was a lovely host and very generous providing wee extras. Would definitely stay again and recommend to all of our friends ”
