Kinkell Cottage

Description

Kinkell cottage is quite simply, perfect. A special, romantic one bed cottage that holds so much character and charm, guests never want to leave. The property sits at the foot of Kinkell Castle, an enchanting building that has been lovingly restored, making it a view in itself to enjoy while sipping on your morning cuppa from the front of the cottage. While the castle is close, it's unintrusive and the cottage feels incredibly private.

A stones throw from Dingwall and Conon Bridge, the traditional Scottish cottage sleeps 2 comfortably with bags of space to make yourself at home. It homes 2 bathrooms, (one shower room and one roll top bath with views over the garden pond), a king sized bed and cosy, comfortable sitting room. The best part of the house? The new glass extension that looks directly over Ben Wyvis (on a clear day) and sleepy village of Conon Bridge. The kitchen is fresh, smart and inpeccably clean with all the amenities you could possibly need, including a Nespresso machine, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave.
The property is home to some amazing pieces of artwork, all produced by family and previous owner, Gerald Laing. Gerald was an iconic face of the Pop Art era, alongside Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and James Rosenquist. His work is still exhibited and enjoyed worldwide and we're delighted to be able to share a handful of his trademark pieces in Kinkell Cottage. Our guests love exploring the artistic talent and sculptures that can be found scattered around the home and garden.
Cosy up by the fire in the Winter evenings, or enjoy sundowners on a Summer night while sitting outside overlooking the valley. There's always something to enjoy at Kinkell cottage, no matter the time of year.

You will have your own private entrance and driveway to Kinkell cottage and can park right at the door. The owners are nearby if needed in the main castle but won't intrude on your space. Well behaved dogs welcome on request. Please get in touch before booking to discuss.

Location

Cromarty and The Black Isle are some of Scotland's best hidden gems. A destination in it's own right- there is so much to do and see in the surrounding area and we can't wait to share our favourite spots with you. Heading onto the NC500? You'll be at the foot of it in this property! Inverness is a 10/15 minute drive away and both Conon Bridge and Dingwall are just 5 minutes away and visibile from the property. We love the little villages of Cromarty, Fortrose and Rosemarkie. All with their own attractions.

Cottage and gardens were breathtaking. The pictures do not do it justice. We had the most peaceful time and loved learning about the history of the property. The castle that the hosts live in on the property, boasts incredible history and the grounds are peppered with incredible sculptures. The interior is so tastefully designed and there’s many books, DVDs and board games to keep you entertained for a quiet night in by the fire. We look forward to returning one day.

WOWZA!! This cottage is beautiful and in a great location! So cosy and tastefully decorated, we felt right at home. I enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table in the morning with a coffee and a book enjoying the spectacular views. All the extra touches too such as lush coffee and biscuits were very much appreciated. This is just what we needed, a nice tranquil getaway, somewhere which feels secluded but isn't too far from the shops and tourist attractions. We will definitely be back!!

We had a great stay at Kinkell cottage, excellent view of Ben Wyvis & ideal location for exploring the Black Isle, further North & the west coast. Cottage was as per the photos, comfy bed & all the little things that were provided made a big difference, didn't need to bring anything really!
