Description

Lonach Coaching Inn is a late 18th century former coaching inn, sitting proudly in the Cairngorms National Park overlooking the River Don.

The property has recently been refurbished to a very high standard, combining a contemporary palette, textiles and modern appliances with many original features and period charm.

This former inn sleeps 6, with a super king-size room, a king size room and a small double room with a charming inbuilt box bed. A futon suitable for children is available if required.

The spacious, open-plan kitchen-diner is fully equipped with modern appliances and a traditional wood burning stove.

A comfortable sitting room provides a place to relax in front of another wood burning stove with board games and books. A snug ‘whisky’ room sits just off this room, ideal for sampling some of the local whiskies and immersing yourself in the local history.

The house boasts a traditional timber balustered staircase, large landings and hallways and a generous utility space with washing machine, additional fridge, pulley clothes dryer. Upstairs there is one large bathroom with a full size bathtub and downstairs there is a large walk-in waterfall shower room.

A large garden allows ample space to soak in the surrounding landscape, with a fire pit area and outdoor seating. The double garage provides a space for secure parking for one car or bikes and also houses a table tennis table and darts board. Dogs are welcome upon request.

Location

Sitting just off the recently established North East 250 Route this property is perfectly located for a multitude of activities. The position is ideally situated for exploring the whisky regions of the Highlands and Speyside, discovering a rich variety of nearby historic castles or enjoying what’s on the doorstep in the hidden gem of Upper Donside.

The area is one of Aberdeenshire’s best kept secrets for outdoor pursuits - think hill walking over heather-clad hills, skiing at the Lecht Ski Centre, trout fishing on the River Don or shooting on traditional sporting estates.

Beautiful property and exactly what we were looking for. We were seeking a remote and peaceful location and this is exactly what we got! Future guests should note that the nearest shop is only 5 mins drive to Bellabeg. There were some lovely thoughtful touches on our arrival, plentiful wood for the stoves and fire pit, supplies of toilet roll etc., even some dog poo bags for those with fur babies in tow! The bed linen was fresh and clean, the beds were comfortable and generous. The cabin bed was particularly charming and was a favourite of my 10 year old! The whisky room was fab and enjoyed if we wanted to read a book or watch a movie. The bathrooms and kitchen were spotless. The boot room at the back houses a second fridge, the freezer and a washing machine. The house was wonderfully proportioned for a family of four. A power cut box came in VERY handy as we had a power cut during Storm Babet. We are already planning pur return visit! This stay was nearly perfect for us.

We had the loveliest visit in the house the past days. The house is absolutely beautiful and the amenities included made our stay wonderful. We enjoyed every second there and we will make sure to come back.

Words cannot fully describe how beautiful Lonarch Coaching Inn was. Spacious interior, gorgeous decor and situated in the most magnificent setting. Each room was well thought out and the men in our party thoroughly enjoyed the whisky room. Beds were extremely comfortable and linen was soft and luxurious. We spent a lot of time sitting outdoors, enjoying the beautiful backdrop of the river and woodland whilst watching the lambs frolicking. Property is quite remote which may not suit everyone but we loved the serenity and being in nature. Thank you Sonia for sharing this amazing home.

A beautiful, tranquil house in one of Scotland’s most stunning areas. The wildlife and walking all around was amazing. The house was perfectly set up with everything you could need, so comfortable and quiet. A truly magical place. Thank you.

We had a wonderful stay - the house is clean, tranquil and so comfortable. There are so many little touches making this a very restful and cosy place. We experienced the full range of Scottish weather whilst staying (from warm sunny to waking up to snow!) and the house and it’s location are suited to all- the games room in the garage was perfect for keeping us entertained in the rain, the fires kept us cosy when it was cold and when the weather was good we spent time in the garden and had a campfire. We could have stayed so much longer! There is also lots of helpful information at the house about local walks and we enjoyed reading the history of the house. My daughter adored the little cabin bed that made her actually ask to go to bed!! Having a boot room was also so handy after long walks. Sonia was very responsive and easy to communicate with. We can’t wait to come back :)

One of the best Airbnb's we've visited so far: completely renovated, double garage with ping pong and darts, very well equipped kitchen, everything foreseen for both outdoor and indoor fireplace etc. Stunning environment. We really felt welcome. Another thing to note is how clean all spaces were. Impressive and great value for money!

We had a fantastic stay here! You could tell the house had recently been refurbished as the décor and furnishings were beautiful and very fitting for the style of house. The house was well stocked with towels, pillows and blankets as well as some lovely welcome prosecco on our arrival. We found the house to be an ideal location as we just enough 'out in the sticks' with no neighbour and beautiful backdrops (there was no better place to sit in the back garden drinking a cup of tea listening to all of the wildlife around) however, within in short distance we were close enough to the the local villages around to get some more supplies as well a go sight seeing. - Thanks for a lovely stay!
