Lovely lodge we will definitely visit again. Lots of great extras including a lovely basket of coffee, tea, biscuits, farm eggs and cereal. Milk and wine in the fridge too!

Ideal place to enjoy a retreat-type break in the countryside. The cottage has a very homely feel with retro charm. As much hot running water as required and cosy heating. Great access to Kelso, Berwick and other border towns. Good sized supermarkets also within easy reach - smaller, well-stocked village stores even closer. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable experience and excellent value too. Highly recommended!

The owners of Melkington Lodge have created a stand out product. Their attention to detail and generosity was outstanding. From the hamper on arrival which was lavish with all we needed for breakfast to the picnic rug, cool bag and flask for the perfect picnic. The beds and linen are top quality which ensured the most cosiest of sleeps. We met the owners several times whom gave us a warm welcome and great advice to local businesses and places of interest. We will be back as we’re missing it already.

Lovely to return to this beautiful cottage. The Welcome Hamper was just as good as our previous visit. A great spot, with gorgeous views from the garden, and from the bedroom window!

We have stayed here many times and this time we were able to bring our adult children and their significant others to show them the place and to visit Grandma who lives just across in Scotland. As always Victoria who owns the lodge is so sweet as is her husband- they are always wonderful and helpful and the basket of treats is first class! Will be coming back hopefully in fall if not then definitely next spring!

A fantastic hidden gem of a place, so quiet and peaceful. Very well located for exploring northern Northumberland. Lovely warm and cosy inside, spacious rooms and a well-equipped kitchen. Really nice surprise of a hamper on arrival which was much appreciated after a long drive. Lots to do locally. It was also lovely to watch the birds on the feeder in the garden (from the warm living room!) We highly recommend the Plough Inn at Leitholm which was very friendly and has a much wider choice of veggie / vegan / non-meat meals than lots of other places locally (and things for fussy people!) Just a really lovely place to stay, we would definitely come back here.

A really lovely cottage with views over the Cheviots. Beautifully decorated and well-equipped, in good striking distance from a range of beaches, castles and villages. Excellent welcome hamper was much appreciated after a long journey! I would highly recommend to others.

The lodge was ideal for our break in the Borders. It is in such a beautiful and peaceful location and a great base to explore the local area. There are several walks that you can do from the lodge itself (there are plenty of maps and guidebooks for reference) as well as the local attractions of Lindisfarne and Bamburgh beach. We particularly loved the outside space and how we could have dinner al fresco. The rooms are good sizes and happily fit four of us in. Would definitely recommend and would love to visit again!
