Torran Cottage

Kinlochewe
3 bedrooms
1 bathroom
6 guests

Description

This cosy little cottage sleeps up to 6 guests, in 2 double bedrooms (one with en-suite) and one large twin room. There is also a large family bathroom with overhead shower and big bathtub.
The open plan kitchen dining room features a huge picture window, looking out over Loch Coulin and across the moors to Beinn Eighe.
Curl up in front of the wood burning stove in the living room or lounge in one of the many window seats situated throughout the property and take in the views.

The cottage is situated on the banks of Loch Coulin which also leads to Loch Clair, with level walks along the shorelines.
You may bump into the occasional walker, but it's more likely you will spot some of the local wildlife. Coulin Estate is home to a resident golden eagle, otters, highland ponies, deer and some incredibly rare black throated divers to name just a few.

Peace and quiet are in serious supply here as the house is set well off the beaten track. You'll need a substantial car or 4x4 to get to the property, (see photos for images of the track).
The owners welcome visitors to explore the walking trials, lochs and hills, making this the perfect property for mountain bikers, hill walkers, outdoor enthusiasts and families looking to spend some quality time in the great outdoors.
The property is dog friendly so bring along your four legged friend!

Location

There is lots to see and do in the surrounding area while feeling completely relaxed and cut off from busy, day-to-day life.
The world famous Torridon hotel is located right on the doorstep of the estate and is high on our list of recommendations for evening dinner or even lunch.
We also love the Midge Bite Cafe in Auchnasheen for a quick coffee and a bite to eat.
As you come into Coulin Estate, you will drive along the foot of Bein Eighe and just a few miles further and you will find the beautiful Victoria Falls. Well worth a visit!

There is some incredible wildlife to be found on the estate, including a sea eagle, whooper swans (wintering from Iceland) and a pinemartin.
Head further up the snowy hilltops and you might even be lucky enough to spot a ptarmigan!

Just along the road, in the car park of Bein Eighe, you might spot the resident stag (who can be seen in our pictures).
If you're looking to experience Scotland at it's best, you simply won't beat this location.

Torran Cottage exceeded our expectations after seeing already quite stunning listing photos. If you are on the fence about booking a stay here, just do it! The cottage heating was set perfectly, the kitchen was well stocked, the bathrooms were immaculate; we used the wood burner our whole stay— the cosiest of sitting rooms! We arrived after dark and so were completely star struck when we awoke our first morning and pulled open the curtains. Truly a breathtaking setting that words fail to describe. Thank you for a truly peaceful stay— we will be back!!

Beautiful nature, very charming and well decorated cottage. We immediately felt at home and we were able to do very nice hikes directly from the house. The wider area with Loch Torridon is also very attractive. Since good shopping facilities are about an hour away, it is worth shopping in advance of arriving.

Extremely clean and well sorted cabin - very well appointed and thoughtfully furnished - absolutely stunning setting - beautiful surroundings - very remote - make sure to shop wisely for food as the next shop is about an hour drive away, thankfully there is a great little store at the cafe in Torridon - also make sure to bring bug spray.

Utterly breathtaking. We do not have the words to express how special this place is. The journey to the estate and the track to the cottage (don’t be put off by this as we have been on far worse tracks) is just the start of the wonderful surroundings. Once out of your car, you will gasp at the panoramic sights of mountains, hills, water and wildlife and upon entering the cottage, you soon realise every room has a view! The cattle, birds and horses and part of the magic of this place. This stay is all about the location but the cottage is also delightful! We’d return in a heartbeat.

What an incredible cottage with stunning views. We had the best break away just waking up to deer herds grazing right outside the bedroom window to highland cows. It was so nice to get to fully switch off from the outside world and have a few days of walking and watching the wildlife. We left yesterday but are already checking availability to come back again! Would recommend this to anyone looking for the perfect remote getaway to escape the daily rat race. The cottage was well equipped with everything you need and could possibly want.

We were lucky enough to spend a few nights at Torran Cottage. It is a beautiful home in a picturesque valley where Highland cows, horses and deer can be seen. The house is very well equipped, cozy and has a practical enclosed garden for dogs. We highly recommend Torran Cottage.

This is an exceptional property. Myself, my mum and my brother had a wonderful stay at Torran Cottage; I have already booked my next stay. I understand the property has been recently refurbished - it has been done to a very high standard and everything is very good quality, including the mattresses, pillows and bed linen. It was very well cleaned. Check in was simple and straightforward. The location is breathtaking, with incredible views from the windows and surrounded by stunning scenery and walks. It is down a long private drive and is very private and quiet. I will definitely be coming back.
