WHERE TO EAT?

From breakfast to dinner and all that’s in between, here are some of our favourite restaurants in and around Edinburgh’s city centre that we’re confident won’t disappoint. This list should offer something for everyone, but if you think we’ve missed off somewhere special, please let us know.


BREAKFAST

THE PANTRY – Arguably, the most important meal of the day, whether it’s a full cooked or a wholesome porridge The Pantry in Stockbridge caters for everyone. https://www.thepantryedinburgh.co.uk/menu Tip: Head along early as the pantry is always a busy spot for locals!

SODERBERG – On the run? Soderberg bakeries and cafes can be found dotted all over Edinburgh’s hot spots. Stockbridge, Meadow walk and Broughton Street are all home to the Scandi inspired cafes, perfect for a fresh croissant and coffee while on the move! https://www.soderberg.uk

DISHOOM‘s breakfast menu is well worth the visit. In a classic interior space, Dishoom creates a great authentic and fresh Indian dining experience for any time of the day. http://www.dishoom.com/edinburgh/

TIGERLILY – For a waffle fix, try TIGERLILY. Located on George Street, the hotel offers some great breakfast classics for reasonable prices – be sure to book though as this hotel is always busy! https://www.tigerlilyedinburgh.co.uk

CAIRNGORM COFFEE – Bacon? Our friends over at Cairngorm Coffee whip up a mean bacon roll. Not only are the spaces fun, cosy and super cool, they also serve some of the best coffee about, and you can pick up a bag to take home with you! LEO’S BEANERY– Half way down the hill on Howe St, Leo’s Beanery do a great coffee and a full variety of breakfast dishes plus, the staff are super friendly. https://www.leosbeanery.co.uk


LUNCH AND LIGHT BITES

THE GARDEN – If you’re looking for a light bite, smashed avocado on toast or a chilled G&T, check out The Garden,located just off Charlotte Square. Set in a large and super cool conservatory, The Garden offers great hospitality in a laid back setting. https://www.gardenedinburgh.com/

MILK – If you find yourself located in the Haymarket area of town, MILK is a must visit. The cafe is tiny, with rustic tables and chairs and fresh white tiles. Milk has freshly made sandwiches, breakfasts and soups made up daily, and is a popular spot with the locals. http://www.cafemilk.co.uk/west-end

HENDERSONS – If you’re vegan, veggie or just feeling like a healthy option, Hendersons has been serving vegan and vegetarian options, since 1962, making it the longest running veggie restaurant in the UK! Find it on Hanover Street. Tip: Upstairs they also have a fab deli! https://www.hendersonsrestaurant.com

OINK – Specialising in pulled pork sandwiches and hog roasts, OINK is a favourite lunch spot with the locals. Choose your bread, select your stuffing, add your sauce and you’re ready to go. So popular, they now have 3 venues; Victoria Street, Canongate and Hanover street. https://www.oinkhogroast.co.uk

CAFE ANDALUZ – We couldn’t name lunch spots without dropping in Cafe Andaluz. Not only are these tapas style restaurants always a go to for great Spanish food, they also over a range of great cocktails and are perfect for group sharing plates. Tip: If you’re going as a group, get the set menu before hand for the sharing options! https://www.cafeandaluz.com


EVENING MEALS AND SOMEWHERE SPECIAL

Edinburgh boasts an enormous selection of wonderful restaurants and eateries, but here are a few that we just cant get enough of.

THE LOOKOUT by GARDNERS COTTAGE is a panoramic restaurant at the top of Carlton Hill with unbelievable views. Food options vary, so we recommend checking these out online before bookings. https://www.thelookoutedinburgh.co

CHAOPHRAYA – Located slap bang in the middle of town, CHAOPHRAYA is the perfect spot for lunch with a view or evening meal with a cocktail. Again, the views are straight over the city centre and the restaurant sits parallel with the castle. https://chaophraya.co.uk/edinburgh/

THE BON VIVANT – Offering a relaxed environment with European dishes on the menu. This classic hang out is great for both food and cocktails. https://bonvivantedinburgh.co.uk

COLD TOWN HOUSE – Pizza, Prosecco & Beer more your thing? Try Cold Town House at the foot of the castle in Grassmarket. With a lovely roof terrace and a great selection of craft beers, it’s perfect for a quick bite or a boozy afternoon! https://coldtownhouse.co.uk

HAWKSMOOR – Hawksmoor offers an unfussy, classic, British menu and the steak is hugely popular. The Edinburgh spot doesn’t have a dress code, but smart casual is always recommended. https://thehawksmoor.com/locations/edinburgh/
